The Codes Department inspects new and existing residential, commercial, and institution sites to ensure building and fire safety, as well as life safety.  This department also inspects building construction sites for conformation to approved plans and compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.  This department also consults with builders, contractors, engineers, and architects regarding approved building, fire, electric, and plumbing codes per City and State guidelines and regulations.  This department reviews construction plans to determine if plans are in compliance with permits and codes.  This department also investigates complaints of building or construction violations, fire code violations, and electrical and plumbing violations prescribed by codes and guidelines.

This department also investigates complaints pertaining to all other City codes.  If you would like to make a complaint regarding codes violations please contact the Codes Department for assistance.  Also, please note that all violations receive immediate attention but immediate action cannot always occur.  There are policies and procedures in place which must be followed to allow property owners time to comply and conform to the codes adopted.  If the property owner does not comply and conform to the codes, other actions will be taken at that time.

The Codes Department also investigates fires and explosions to determine the origin and cause by a designed systematic framework or outline to encompass all necessary components of a complete investigation, and other necessary actions if needed.  This department meets and works with other agencies for inspections and investigations.  This department also meets with emergency management agencies and responds to disasters to compile damage assessments and other various reports.

Building Permit Fees:

$1,000 or less - $20.00 inspections fee if required to inspect

$1,000 to $50,000 - $20.00 for the first $1,000 plus $5.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof up to $50,000

$50,000 to $100,000 - $260.00 for the first $50,000 plus $4.00 for ach additional thousand or fraction thereof up to $100,000

$100,000 to $500,000 - $460.00 for the first $100,000 plus $3.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof up to $500,000

$500,000 and up - $1,660.00 for the first $500,000 plus $2.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof

Electrical Permit Fees:

0 - 100 amps =     $40.00

101 - 200 amps = $45.00

201 - 400 amps = $50.00

401 - 1000 amps = $200.00

1001 - Up amps = $400.00

Rough-in and Temporary = $30.00

Plumbing = $5.00 per fixture, & $5.00 inspection

Gas Hot Water Heater = $20.00 inspection fee

Heat & Air = $20.00 inspection fee
