Mayor Mike Stanfield
Mike Stanfield was the 2nd born child of the late John (Rabbit) Stanfield and Mildred Stanfield, and has lived his entire life in LaFollette. He has been married for over 41 years to his wife Vinnie (Dobos). They have two children, Lisa, who is married to Brent Lester, and a son, Shaun. Between their kids, they have four grandchildren; Hunter, Chloe, Will, and Bella Hope.
Mike graduated from LaFollette High School, and was drafted to Vietnam soon after graduation. After his two years of active military service, he began working for the City of LaFollette's Public Works Department while attending Roane State Community College at night. Mike started out working for the City as a Laborer/Truck Driver, and was later promoted to Heavy Equipment Operator. The last few years of his employment with the Public Works Department, he became the Operations Manager, and then held the position of the Head of the Department.
Throughout his career in public service, he has been affiliated with various organizations and boards which include:
- The Jaycees
- Beautification Board for the City of LaFollette
- Christmas Parade Committee
- LaFollette Planning Commission
- Campbell County Emergency management
- 911 Board
- Medical Foundation Board
Mike retired in 2006 with over 30 years of service. However, he decided to run for office, and was elected to serve on the seat of LaFollette's City Council, and as a natural progression, he was elected as the Mayor of the City of LaFollette in 2008. Mike loves his City, and is looking forward to serving the taxpayers in a whole new light.
